The results are in. Announcing the winner for Hair Shots 2 The World’s ‘Cover of the Decade’ competition.
In celebration of the platform’s tenth anniversary, the award was devised by Leanne Cutler as a means to honour the very best in hairdressing talent, with submitted shoots spanning the last ten years.
Over 300 entries were judged by a string of industry experts from across the UK, Europe, Asia, South America, North American and Africa, with finalists including both individual and team efforts.
The winner for 2020? Reigning AHFA Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Craig Smith; who secured the title with an image from his 2015 Epoch collection, photographed by Andrew O’Toole.
“Judges from each continent scrutinised 329 covers by year to see Craig’s quintessential cover image gain the highest score,” says Hair Shots 2 The World founder, Leanne Cutler.
“Their job was to identify a cover that not only held all the qualities of an excellent hair fashion image, but that would also provide strong allure to sell a magazine.”
An image from Daniella Barca and Adam Isles of Rokk Ebony’s Coachella collection came in at a close second. The striking side-on shot was photographed by Michaela Barca.
“It is unusual for a side shot to be a cover, but the lilac hair colour mixed with a long-hair-with-fringe look on a lime green background just pops,” Leanne shares. “This image certainly attracts attention.
“Congratulations to Craig, Daniella and Adam for winning in an extremely tough competition,” she added. “Both winners will receive a free premium collection release from Hair Shots 2 The World.”
Hair Shots 2 The World’s next celebration instalment (honouring its milestone 10th Anniversary) will take place with the announcement of Star Collections, commencing daily as of Monday 1 June.
Collections that previously scored three or more covers (over the past decade) will instantly redeem Star Collection status. Covers will be announced via Facebook and Instagram @hairshots2theworld.
