It’s no news to us that the world of hair is filled with wonderfully talented people, making changes to the way clients feel, pushing creative boundaries and paving the way for the future of the industry. We’ve decided to put the spotlight on some of Wella Professionals’ pioneering individuals, the first to welcome on stage: Marie Uva

TJ: How do you like to spend your days off?

MU: Relaxing with family and friends over some nice food.

TJ: If you weren’t a hairdresser, what career path would you take?

MU: Public Relations or Teaching, I love children!

TJ: Describe your signature style (fashion and hair).

MU: I love anything that looks and feels luxurious.

TJ: What’s something everyone else loves that you secretly find overrated?

MU: Snapchat!

TJ: Can you tell us about how you first got into hairdressing?

MU: I’ve always wanted to be a hairdresser, I was studying at UNI and decided to leave and just go for it.

TJ: What is your favourite thing about the hair industry?

MU: It’s fun! I love the people that I work with!

TJ: Can you tell us about how UVA Salon began?

MU: UVA Salon was a process of evolution – it’s the salon that I have always wanted.

TJ: Tell us about one of your career highlights.

MU: I have so many highlights – competing internationally for the first time is definitely up there.

TJ: What is your favourite style to create?

MU: I love sexy, voluminous hair!

TJ: If you could facilitate one change in the hair industry, what would it be?

MU: Funding for reskilling.

TJ: If you could leave our audience with one piece of advice, what would it be?

MU: Love what you do! Work hard and enjoy the success that comes but always remember to be humble!

TJ: Why do you choose to identify with WELLA professionals?

MU: I have never worked with another brand – I love the company.

TJ: What is the most popular WELLA product and why?

MU: The Colour Save & Luxe series – they are second to none

TJ: What does being a WELLA Professional Colour Ambassador mean to you?

MU: Wella is part of what hairdressing is to me. I have always worked with and alongside the brand throughout my career. I love that I am able to work so closely that has such a similar vision to myself.

TJ: What’s next for the brand?

MU: You will have to wait and see…
