Celebrating talent, vision and technical mastery, Wella TrendVision is an invaluable platform for the cultivation of hair talent, honouring creativity on a global stage.

Now in it’s 16th instalment, TrendVison’s 2019 offering welcomed a re-designed format; a move aimed at encouraging competitors to reach new heights in creative excellence whilst connecting with their international peers.

The inaugural, two-day Creative Retreat saw 76 Gold Winners (from both the ColorVision and CreativeVision categories) flock to Lisbon, Portugal for a series of coaching and mentorship sessions alongside a 16 of the brand’s most revered Global Artists (including Australia’s own Renya Xydis). Sessions were geared toward the sharing of skills knowledge and experiences as well as the elevation of hairdressers’ skills through bespoke mentorship.

Winners were divided into eight respective teams and invited to compete for one of five category awards including the Social Media Award, the Speak EIMI Award (for the best editorial look), the Couture Color Award (for excellent colour work aligned to a brief), the ghd Award (for interpreting the Queen Maker look) and finally the Couture Collection Award (for the collection most aligned to the brief).

Following two days of teaching, coaching and judging, this year’s live finals saw the announcement of TrendVision’s International Winners for 2019. Tanya Grant, of Joey Scandizzo Salon was among this year’s global recipient list, taking out the International ColorVision Award for 2019. Scoring Gold in the CreativeVision category was Russia’s 2019 delegate Sergei Chernyshev of Pavel Okhapkin Studio.

Prior to the win, Tanya’s submission wowed national judges in September, granting her the title of ColorVision Gold winner for Australia, alongside Anna Bell of TONI & GUY (New Zealand). Elizabeth Shedwick of TONI&GUY (Australia) and Jackson Rodeka of Zaibatsu Hair Art (New Zealand) also partook in this year’s finals, as the national Gold winners for CreativeVision in 2018.

Of the announcement, Wella’s Education Director Australia & New Zealand, Gina Thomas said; “The Wella Family talent in Australia and New Zealand is unparalleled. Tanya’s phenomenal achievement as International ColorVision 2018 Award recipient Is a testament to this. We extend a huge congratulations to Tanya. Wella TrendVision is an integral part of Wella’s commitment to celebrate and elevate our incredible ANZ talent”.
