EVENT: TOP FIVE TAKEAWAYS FROM KAO SALON ALLIANCE #MBEWEEKENDER

It was a weekend of mixing, mingling, inspiration and education at the Kao Salon Alliance MBE Weekender! Here’s our top five takeaways from the unforgettable weekend that was.

INSPIRATION OVERLOAD

Day 1 of the event featured inspiring and motivational keynote speakers in the areas of business, leadership, and personal development that truly set the Weekender off in the most uplifting way possible. The day started with Amanda Stevens, a Consumer Futurist, sharing insights on building long-term resilience by stepping outside one’s comfort zone. Seamus Evans shared how he overcame the challenges of Tourette’s Syndrome to achieve his dream career in media. The day also included a panel discussion on “Wellness for Mind, Body & Money” with experts in wellness, finance, and fitness.

HAIR WITH HEART

One of the most uplifting keynote speeches from Day 1’s supersized day of inspiration came courtesy of former Australian of the Year WA Local Hero Craig Hollywood who shared his powerful story of philanthropy through Short Back &  Sidewalks, his 2015 brainchild of giving free cuts (and chats) to people in need. It was a truly powerful and poignant reminder of the power we as hairdressers hold, and the power we have to uplift and give back to our local communities.

PRODUCT SHOWCASE

As guests arrived, they were greeted with the latest and greatest in products and innovation across the family of Kao Salon Division. Attendees were invited to get up close and personal with products across Goldwell, KMS and Oribe, and also had the chance to speak with brand reps and get insider knowledge on what’s new in the world of Kao.

CUTTING EDGE TIPS & TECHNIQUES

Day 2 of the MBE Weekender was all about creativity and showcasing the latest trends in the beauty industry. From New York Fashion Week runway looks to Australian-inspired styles, the event was packed with tips, techniques, and product insights. Oribe International Educator, Adam Livermore, wowed the audience with his three runway looks and Oribe brand stories, while Wildlife Salon SOGO’s co-owners, Ali Holmes and Piet Pantano, shared their backstage tips for working with KMS and recreated six looks from their fashion partners.

The Kerasilk range also had its moment to shine with National Kerasilk Ambassadors, Kirby Lago, Jason Fassbender, and Amanda Magistro showcasing three individual looks using the new all-vegan, repackaged and reformulated range, and unveiling brand new products. Alannah Jade, Salon Director of Ella&Jade, also took the stage to unveil the soon-to-launch ammonia-free Goldwell Topchic Zero range, sharing her expert color techniques.

To celebrate 75 years of Goldwell, Shane Henning and Megan Evans sent creative color and style down the catwalk from the decades, while Goldwell Global Ambassador, Angelo Seminara, closed the event with his intricate color work and genius styling. Seminara also shared his personal hair journey and passion for artistic work, creating three creative hair looks on stage while showcasing his work using the media of video.

SPARKLING ON IN TO THE EVENING WITH GOLDWELL

Is it really a hairdressing Weekender without a sparkling celebration to rub shoulders with peers and let our hair down? MBE Weekender delegates were invited to celebrate Goldwell’s 75 Year Diamond Anniversary in style at the iconic Establishment Bar, and with A Little Sparkle as the theme, there were more than a few shining moments on display at the high wattage event.
