Renya Xydis was last night announced as AHFA 2022 Hairdresser of the Year at the awards’ sold-out Melbourne event.
Taking to Melbourne for the first time in 30 years, the 2022 Australian Hair Fashion Awards was quite literally a celebration unlike any other. With restrictions eased, the freedom to fill a room and rub shoulders with industry legends from near and far was a refreshing scene, and in addition to honouring this years’ best in business, creativity and innovation, the event celebrated its 30th birthday, in serious style.
With Dyson as Presenting Partner for the fourth year running, and welcoming O&M onboard as Principle Colour Partner, the gala took place at Melbourne’s CIEL, The Venue last night, and hosted a sold-out crowd of 800 people from across the country and around the globe. Special guests included the UK’s Errol Douglas and Australian born, global success story, Richard Mannah; in town for the inaugural Mane Stage education event that took place the day prior.
The anticipated runway show platformed the work of Dyson Styling Ambassadors Damien Rinaldo and Michael Beel, and in collaboration with Australian fashion designers, Yousef Akbar and Jason Grech. Together the team presented a series of looks designed to capture the essence of ‘ICON’, manifesting a mix of sci-fi and classic styles with a modern undertone.
Kate Peck and Dyson Global Styling Ambassador Peter Thomsen owned the stage as official hosts, keeping guests entertained throughout the evening and as 2022’s legends were officially crowned.
The notorious kick on was powered by the party starters at L’Oréal Professionnel for the ACCESS Afterparty who transformed the space into an inner-city club scene with the help of Australian electro outfit, the Rogue Traders Duo who set the vibes high.
A huge congratulations to the winners listed below, and a special shoutout to all finalists and creative teams who invested their ideas and innovation to ensure another strong competition across the board.
