After another whirlwind year filled with breathtaking hair and beauty moments, Afterpay Australian Fashion Week has come to a close for another year with the final show presented in 2022 being the First Nations Fashion and Design Show (FNFD).

Redken Hair Director Richard Kavanagh and the Redken styling team worked tirelessly backstage to bring their ‘wild, free and of the earth’ vision to life, as well as collaborating closely with the team at FNFD – who supports the growth of Indigenous Fashion – to complement their new collection.

“You’ll need to work with lightweight Redken products,” said Richard on how to achieve the looks . “Firstly, use Redken Quick Blowout which nourishes and conditions the hair whilst adding shine. After this, add Redken Fashion Waves 07 Sea-Salt Spray adding instant texture and a tousled beachy look, it’ll also give the hair a bit of bounce and moisture. Following this, work with small portions of the hair and gently go over the hair with curling iron to emphasise the curls.”

“We really want to embrace the natural texture,” Kavanagh explained of hair guidance for the closing show. The end result? A gorgeous celebration of the curls of First Nations people with a spotlight on natural textures.
