The Australian hairdressing industry suffered a massive loss this week with the passing of hairdressing great and TONI&GUY Australia CEO Dennis Langford.

An inspiration to all who met him, Dennis has left a lasting legacy that will be remembered for generations of talent to come.

“Dennis’ long-standing dedication and passion for hairdressing has revolutionised the Australian hairdressing community,” said TONI&GUY Marketing Manager Ash Downie in a release to the industry. “We know we are not alone in saying that Dennis has touched the lives of many, both near and far.”

“Dennis’ family, and extended TONI&GUY family request privacy during this time to grieve.”

When speaking of his friend Dennis, TJM Director David Mannah remembers his leadership within our beloved community and his total devotion to helping others achieve their career goals. Below is his tribute to the guiding light within Australian hairdressing.

“The first leader and inspiration that I personally experienced in the hair world was Dennis Langford.

“The man was a true champion of people, brand and business.

“As a young family of creatives, the ‘Mannah brothers’ always looked up to Dennis. He was smart, intuitive and relentless!

“I have so many great memories of Dennis, and I dare say he played one of the largest roles in the acceptance and success of The Journal Magazine when we launched in 2012.

“Dennis you are so respected loved and will be very missed.

“I can’t believe I don’t get to connect with you anymore?! I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and always walked way from them uplifted, inspired and challenged.

“You are TONI&GUY to me, and the brand will never be the same without you.

“However, because of who you are, planting so many incredible seeds in your salon owners and leaders, as a result I have no doubt that the future of TONI&GUY is bright and healthy.

“Thank you Dennis for being a friend to me with your door and heart always open.

“Till I see you again Big Mac!”

To provide a greater insight to the great man that Dennis was, we’ve pulled this interview from last year to truly illustrate just how inspirational he was.

Rest in peace to an unforgettable force within hair. The Australian hairdressing industry will miss you every day.
