Proudly supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation, Scott Sloan, Director of Sloans of Lane Cove, in collaboration with the Australian Hairdressing Council, is calling on salons around the country to participate in the ‘Salon Select Smiles for Starlight’ initiative.
To raise the much needed funds required to grant Starlight Wishes, salons will be asked to add just $1 to the price of every customer service for the month of May, giving clients the chance to make a real difference and to help make a child smile. Participating salons will also be provided with all the marketing material required to engage clients and successfully support their own campaign in-salon, across social media and via local press.
In support of Starlight Day on Friday 1st May 2015, this exciting new national fundraising event aims to raise $65,000 in order to grant 10 Starlight wishes for seriously ill children. A Starlight Wish is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a seriously ill child and their family and is the gift of hope during the toughest of times. Says one Starlight parent, who has witnessed firsthand the power of the Starlight Wish program, “After getting through the immense family and financial disruption of having a critically/chronically ill child, the Starlight Wish opportunity enabled our family to enjoy a totally stress free holiday together for the first time. It was also special because the siblings are involved and recognised for their important and selfless contribution during the difficult times of illness.”
Following on from the overwhelming success of the existing relationship created with Starlight by Scott through the creation of the unique Sloans Pop-Up Salon activity and extensive fundraising support, he is excited to see this new initiative allow the broader hairdressing community to give back: “My team and I have been working with Starlight for the last 4 years, and we know firsthand how amazing the experience is. There are so many children in need of some sparkle at children’s hospitals around Australia and this is the hair industry’s chance to show that we care. This year we hope the AHC can raise enough to grant 10 wishes. Next year? The sky is the limit.”
