WINNER: Daniel Fortino,
Hennesy Lane Hair

“I wanted to create that illusion when oil has spilled onto concrete, that rainbow metallic sheen effect when the light hits the concrete,” he said. In order to achieve the style, he used a range of Paul Mitchell products. “I used a foiling technique on the fringe, placing colour at the root of the foil and then changing colours throughout the mid lengths. I created depth in between with grey, to create the oil spill illusion,” says Daniel.

Paul Mitchell has announced Victorian hairstylist Daniel Fortino (Hennesy Lane) as the Australian 2016 winner of the Color Outside The Lines creative colour competition, as well as 1st Runner up Carly Johnson (Hennesy Lane) and 2nd Runner up Lauren Harris (Kawsa Hair Studio).

We were blown away by the level of interest in this being our first year of running this competition, and felt entries submitted illustrated the level of creativity and skill that is alive and well in the Australian hairdressing industry. Not a lot separated the winners this year, all displayed immaculate attention to detail, and showed a great understanding of the conceptual elements required to create stand out cuts and colours.” Says John Pizzey, Three Six Five Managing Director.

As part of his prize pack Daniel will join the Paul Mitchell Australia team and Color Outside The Lines winners from around the globe in Las Vegas for the 2016 Paul Mitchell Gathering. All winners will have their work featured on PaulMitchellPro.com and PaulMitchellaus.com.au.
