Winning such a prestigious award was the pinnacle moment that I have always envisioned. I’m looking forward to all the great opportunities to come and I could not think of abetter brand to represent than L’Oréal Professionnel.

Zohair’s Massimo Tirimacco has been crowned L’Oréal Professionnel’s best colourist at the 2019 Colour Trophy Awards.

One of the longest running hairdressing competitions in the world, L’Oréal Colour Trophy continues to platform the best in hairdressing talent; honouring exceptional artistry, skill and creative vision both regionally and abroad.

Returning to Melbourne’s The Palms at Crown, 2019’s event final gathered 15 finalists from across the country, a string of special guests and media, as well as L’Oréal Professionnel’s extended salon network, for an evening of hair, fashion and colourful celebration.

Emceeing the evening for 2019 was Australian comedian and presenter Tommy Little, while cult 90’s act Bachelor Girl (of ‘Buses and Trains’ fame) provided the musical entertainment – though not before an electric dance performance by Melbourne based dance outfit, Matador.

Highlights included a bespoke ‘Color Me French’ presentation, which saw L’Oréal Professionnel’s Australian Artistic Team showcase the latest trends from, while the night’s Headlining Act, colour queen Sophia Hilton (Not Another Salon) wowed crowds with a colourful runway display.

Taking out the evening’s highest honour was Massimo Tirimacco of Zohair in Adelaide, who was named both the Australian Colour Trophy Winner for 2019 as well as this year’s Marie Claire Reader’s Choice Recipient.

Second place went to Scott Sloans of Sloans Lane Cove in NSW, while third place was awarded to Biba Academy’s Lyndal Salmon. This year’s Rising Star recipient was Ruby Smillie, also of Sloans Lane Cove.

“L’Oréal Colour Trophy is an esteemed competition showcasing exceptional hairdressing talent from across the country,” said Cara Riley, L’Oréal Professionnel General Manager. “We witnessed some outstanding technical skills, making it almost impossible to select a winner.”

“Congratulations to Massimo for his beautifully unique colour work, and thank you to all our Australian participants for making the 2019 event so memorable.”

“I can’t believe I’ve won the 2019 L’Oréal Colour Trophy!,” mused Massimo Tirimacco. “Winning such a prestigious award was the pinnacle moment that I have always envisioned. I’m looking forward to all the great opportunities to come and I could not think of abetter brand to represent than L’Oréal Professionnel.”
