They’re women who need little introduction… and this month, two of the industry’s most esteemed figures will join forces for a unique educational event.

Hosted by Behind the Look, the October 29 Masterclass will see Rae and Sarah take to the stage to share insider tips, tricks and insight, whilst demonstrating the latest fashion and editorial looks. The twist? Each look will be captured by renowned fashion photographer Jason Ierace, and subsequently broadcast in real time via big screen. For the first time, participants will be able to directly witness how looks translate through the photographer’s lens – in high definition.

“This Masterclass is all about the real world of editorial photo shoots, and everything that people want to know about the process.” begins Hair Guru and AHFA Makeup Artist of the Year Sarah Laidlaw. “Rae will be presenting a series of makeup looks, and I’ll be demonstrating a series of hair looks – both from a selection of briefs.”

“We’ll be talking through how to interpret a brief, who usually gives the brief (e.g. art director, client, fashion editor) and how to [ultimately] fulfill that brief. It’s all about bringing these elements into reality, how things translate into a photograph and on screen, and what needs to happen with hair and makeup for the result to be spectacular.”

“Rae and I have worked together for many years and have a really good rapport, but it’s the first time we’ve taught together on stage. We will essentially run through everything in the same way we would a photo shoot. It’s about bringing everything together (hair direction, makeup direction, models’ and photographers’ needs) and working collaboratively to create the best outcome.”

“[The Masterclass] is for hairdressers, makeup artists, people who are interested in capturing their own work (whether they already work in editorial, or are perhaps looking to photograph their work for hair competitions, or submit to magazines) and beauty bloggers who might be shooting for their own social media. Rae and I both have a lot to tell… so this will be fun!”
