LA BIOSTHETIQUE’S ‘COLOUR WITH CARE’ INITIATIVE FUNDS 10,000 NUTRITION PACKS

Haircare and beauty brand, La Biosthetique have reached an industry milestone where the equivalent to 10,000 emergency nutrition packs have been funded simply by doing hair.

On January 1st 2017, Brett McKinnon and the entire La Biosthetique salon network began their journey to change the word one colour at a time. The luxury haircare and beauty company supplies premium products to salons across Australia and New Zealand, specialising in high quality hair colour; core to the business however, is the concept of care. The brand prides itself on the notion that every product in its portfolio cares for the hair and skin to enhance the natural beauty rather than covering it up. Now simply by using the colour, it also cares for those who need it most all around the world.

Colour with Care is an on-going initiative where a portion of every colour tube sold will be donated to Medecins Sans Frontieres (doctors without borders), an independent emergency medical aid organisation that provides relief for natural disasters, armed conflicts, epidemics and famines. This means that every time you get your colour done at a La Biosthetique salon, you will be helping critical support reach areas that need it the most. Whether it’s stopping the spread of infectious diseases, giving malnourished children access to essential meals or providing medical aid to those in disaster struck areas. Medecins Sans Frontieres is an independent emergency medical aid organisation that spans across 70 countries and provides medical relief regardless of race, religion or political conviction.

“Our salon joined Colour with Care because we wanted to do more to give back. The special thing about the program for us is that it involves everyone, even our clients can feel good about donating, simply by getting their colour done.” Brett McKinnon, Colour with Care Ambassador

A mere 7 months since the program began La Biosthetique and its network of salons have raised enough funds to provide 10,000 emergency nutrition packs, given to those who are on the brink of starvation, in particular children suffering from acute malnutrition.

10,000 emergency nutrition packs is no small feat, but this colour company have their sights set on something much bigger! This August La Biosthetique salons across Australia and New Zealand are coming together to donate their time and skills to raise more money for this incredible cause. On 27th August participating La Biosthetique salons will open their doors and donate every dollar taken from services that day to Medecins Sans Frontieres. Together they hope to raise enough money to provide 5,000 anti-malaria treatment kits.

“Malaria is an entirely preventable disease, yet it kills 50 children every hour. Simply by doing what we do best; hair, we can be a part of the solution to end this deadly infectious disease. We hope to make a lasting impact with the Colour with Care initiative. Not just this year, but for many years to come. Already we have caught the attention of countries such as Switzerland, Italy and Poland, who all now looking at implementing the charity partnership in their countries too.” Brett McKinnon

All that salons need to do to be involved in the initiative is to stock the colour and at no extra cost to them, they supporting this great cause. Every visit to a salon will contribute the equivalent to 4 malaria diagnostic kits. Each day a stylist could provide 2 emergency nutrition packs, and every fortnight a salon could provide 1 delivery kit for safe childbirth. Together with the La Biosthetique salons both domestically and internationally their aim is to provide over 1,000,000 emergency nutrition packs for children. So next time you do a colour, think about whether or not you colour with care.
