He’s one of our industry’s brightest stars, and now the 2 x Victorian Hairdresser of the Year is bringing his sartorially-sound style and unbridled creative vision to a new space on Richmond’s Swan Street.

Enter Hermiz Salon; a fresh and fashion-forward salon by the ever-exuberant Hermiz Daniel.

A project many months (and dreams) in the making, Hermiz Salon culminates the stylist’s unique vision, talent and skillset with his industry-renowned experience, keen eye for detail, and an acute ability to amplify beauty of all persuasions.

“It’s a salon for everyone; a place where clients can walk in and have a great all-round experience – from women’s’ and men’s’ colouring and cutting to [various] styling services,” Hermiz reveals.

“We’re always experimenting with different trends but for this space we wanted to create something classic – not too high end so as not to overwhelm our client”.

The latest addition to the Scandizzo empire, Hermiz Salon, sits snugly amid Richmond’s Swann Street; a region abuzz with vivacity yet aptly en-vogue. Just like Hermiz.

“Swan Street is very vibrant; it’s got a young vibe and social demographic with lots of life around it. There’s a lot of cool bars and restaurants around the salon. David Jones is also close by and there’s quite a few shops and big companies around; it’s a cool little hub”.

With (characteristically) optimistic fervor, Hermiz recounts the often times strenuous road that led to the acquisition of the salon’s now-location; “Joey [Scandizzo] found the site a few years back; it’s a huge space that we loved from the beginning. We were put on a waiting list for 18 months but knew that if it was meant to be, it would be”.

He continues, “I think it’s important for things to take their course – you don’t just go straight into something. The good news is, we were first in line… so the rest is history! I believe that everything happens for a reason; patience is a virtue and we’ve all ultimately grown through the process”.

Between session work, creating industry-lauded photographic collections and countless hours behind the salon chair (‘the bread and butter of our work’) Hermiz continues to hone his craft, drawing inspiration and aesthetic stimulus from various modes of expression (fashion included); a natural endeavour for a self-confessed creative.

“I’ve always been attracted to the creative spheres. Growing up, I never wanted to be a hairdresser; I wanted to be a fashion designer. Fashion was a really difficult industry to crack and I needed financial backup – so I took up hairdressing to support myself.”

A fortuitous decision that’s made all the difference; “I used to experiment on my mother’s and sister’s hair and whenever there was an opportunity for me to style someone’s hair – I took it!”

Since then, the 29 year old’s career has only proceeded to blossom; a testament to Hermiz’ infectious passion and tenacity; “As a kid I never dreamed that I would travel the world doing shows and photo shoots.

I didn’t know where hairdressing would take me but I knew I had to give it my all. I love the intensity of high demand jobs. The travelling, the awards, the shows; it’s addictive. You meet so many people and experience so much. It’s a very exciting world!”

While he’s tended to the tresses of some of the nation’s most beautiful women (Rozalia Russian, Jodi Gordan, Brook Hogan – que the rolodex) and a host of international faces (Giuliana Rancic – yes please!) Hermiz maintains that the new space is a haven for all clients – regardless of their gender, vibe or social profile.

“We work with a number of high profile clients, however at the end of the day it’s all about the client experience; making our clients feel happy and comfortable. We want everyone to have the same experience, regardless of their profile.”

Set to open this October (on an as of yet unnamed date – watch this space!) there’s no doubt Hermiz Salon will be a top destination for lovers of hair, fashion and all things happening.

In the meantime, Hermiz is hard at work administering the final touches; sprinkling his trademark glitter on each and every detail. The outlook is dazzling.

“You just never know where you’ll end up,” he concludes. “One thing I’ve always known is that I want to be able to say ‘I’ve done this’. I’ve always looked at the magazines and seen the big names; I’ve watched the people around me do it.

I’m thankful for the support of Joey, John, Joseph and the team. It’s important to appreciate the positives in your life. I want to be doing this work all the time!”

We for one, can’t wait to watch.
