Embracing the mantra of major change in 2020, Goldwell is shaking up their iconic awards’ with a new name and creative curriculum encouraging hairdressers to platform a vision of their own.
“In the past we’ve invited hairdressers from all over the world to participate in the Color Zoom Challenge to show their interpretation of the current Goldwell collection. In 2020 it’s time to go further – we give our stylists the chance to show their full creativity without any limitations,” commented Global Creative Director, John Moroney.
That’s right. No longer will Goldwell colourists create according to trends set by global. Rather, they will hone in on their own ideas and insights on what’s cool, current and creative.
According to Moroney, “today’s stylists want to show their own creativity and not ‘copy/paste’ someone else’s inspiration. We believe that now is the time to take the chance to show what a true creative does: Imagine, Create and Inspire,” said John.
“And we want to celebrate that. They have the talent, we have the stage for them.”
They sure do, broadening the spotlight even further in 2020 with new awards sub category, ‘Editorial’ in addition to the more traditional ‘Technical’ category.
The Technical category invites artists to submit the top results of their own professional photoshoot before competing live, against fellow Australian artists. Regional Gold Winners will then take off to test against fellow technical geniuses in a live competition abroad. Opportunities to shine include New Talent Colorist, Creative Colorist and Creative Haircutter Of the Year.
The ‘Photo Only’ Editorial category presents four new accolades: Men’s Hairstylist, Salon Team, Avant Garde Stylist and Editorial Colorist of the Year. Entrants are required to submit an image that, should they be classified regional hero, will then compete globally for the creative crown.
Each Australian Gold Winner will walk away with a trophy, global editorial coverage and the opportunity to participate in a Goldwell photoshoot (Technical categories) and a cash prize (Editorial categories).
Winners will be announced at the Kao Salon Global Experience Event in Amsterdam, October 2020.
