We took five with the Leah, to chat Kat Von D Beauty, makeup essentials and this season’s trends to watch
How long have you worked as part of Kat Von D Beauty’s Artistry Collective? What does the role encompass?
LC: I am one of the original members of the Artistry Collective. I feel my role has several facets, not only do I get a chance to share my own artistry as an ambassador for the brand, but I also have the privilege of sharing Kat’s vision around the world.
What first drew you to the brand?
LC: As an artist, I love that KVDB products are known for long wear, which is essential to being able to execute my artistry on set.
What’s one item that you ALWAYS have in your makeup kit?
LC: The Lock it Foundation collections are always in my kit. I can really make any complexion look perfect with just a drop.
In your opinion, what is the ultimate beauty sin?
LC: I think the only beauty sin is not being true to yourself and thinking there are makeup rules you have to follow.
Do you have a favourite look to create?
LC: I like to push myself to always go outside of my comfort zone. As an artist you never want to be known for just one thing.
What informs your aesthetic?
LC: Music inspires me. When I am working on set I always have a playlist to keep me going. Music can evoke an incredible range of emotion and I often see that whatever it makes me feel ends up being reflected in my look.
Are there any beauty trends you’re loving at present?
LC: Clean skin is back in, I love that people are becoming more comfortable with experimenting with various levels of coverage and are free to embrace sheer to full coverage.
