Last night, the Australian hairdressing industry descended upon Sydney’s Luna Park to celebrate our country’s largest and most successful independent hairdressing awards program: the Australian Hair Fashion Awards.
The (long anticipated) annual Gala took place before an intimate audience of guests including hairdressers, brand ambassadors and members of the media; all gathered to celebrate the best of the best in Australian hair, fashion and beauty talent.
For the first time in AHFA history, the glamorous evening was also broadcast live in its entirety, with a live Zoom feed enabling stateside winners to dial in and accept their respective accolades before all in attendance.
2020 also saw global technology magnates, Dyson return as the event’s official Major Partner; an alignment harnessing a shared ethos of innovation, inspiration and integrity while solidifying Dyson’s global status as leaders in the professional hairdressing sphere.
Hosted by model and presenter Erin Holland, the event featured musical performances by America’s Got Talent alum Sheldon Riley and winner of the Voice Australia, Alfie Arcuri.
This year also brought together Dyson’s Australian Styling Ambassadors Renya Xydis, Damien Rinaldo, Jayne Wild and Peter Thomsen for the annual AHFA Runway.
Drawing cues from the nineties, the high-octane showcase featured an array of jaw-dropping hair creations, with beauty provided by international staples MAKE UP FOREVER.
Taking out the evening’s highest honour, was Victoria’s own Jamie Furlan (Xiang Hair), who was awarded the coveted title of Australian Hairdresser of the Year for his trailblazing creative collection, Intentional.
Australia’s largest and most successful independent hairdressing awards program, the AHFA’s continue to celebrate the very best in hair, fashion and beauty talent; showcasing the Australian hairdressing industry both locally and on an international scale.
Now in its 28th year, the annual awards program platforms an esteemed portfolio of creative, business and digital categories, judged by some of the biggest names in international hairdressing.
With hundreds of entries from salons and individuals across Australia, the AHFA’s remain a crucial facet of the Australian hairdressing industry, honouring creativity, passion and innovation year upon year.
Congratulations to each of this year’s talented winners, finalists and entrants alike. Bring on AHFA 2021!
