STYLE FOR LIFE: ELEVEN AUSTRALIA RAISES $57,457,60 FOR HAGAR
Over 50 hair salons across Australia opened their doors on Sunday 30 July with all staff donating their time to cut and style as many customers as they could sit in their chairs, raising a staggering $57,457.60 for not-for profit organisation, Hagar.
In its fifth consecutive year, the annual Style for Life Day event is a joint-initiative between ELEVEN Australia and Hagar to support the fight to end slavery and help transform the lives of women and children who have survived severe human rights abuse in Cambodia, Afghanistan and Vietnam.
This incredible event helps provide the funds to create programs around specialist trauma counselling, intensive education programs and career training opportunities that these women and children would otherwise not have the chance to receive. By learning a skill, such as hairdressing, which is one of the most favoured trades of those participating, women are given economic empowerment, independence and a second chance at life.
Key Australian fashion and lifestyle trendsetters, such as style influencer, Lisa Hamilton, and actress Marny Kennedy, all got involved with Style for Life Day, visiting participating salons across Australia to support the cause, all the while getting their hair perfectly styled.
As part of this year’s Style for Life Day campaign, ELEVEN Australia also donated one dollar from every sale of its limited-edition Miracle Hair Treatment during June and July to the cause.
Co-Creative Director of ELEVEN Australia, Joey Scandizzo is extremely passionate about Style for Life Day and has visited Cambodia offering his knowledge and training to help provide human rights abuse survivors with a valuable skill.
“It is only with the support of the public and our amazing salons that we are able to raise the incredible amounts that we do. Seeing the great work Hagar do makes me proud of our industry.” says Scandizzo.
Since its inception in 2013 Style for Life Day has raised $218,000 in total for Hagar, a figure that will continue to grow thanks to the passionate support of its partner ELEVEN Australia.
