NEWS: PIVOT POINT APPOINT SHERIDAN ROSE SHAW AS CREATIVE CONSULTANT

Pivot Point ANZ has appointed respected industry figure Sheridan Rose Shaw to a newly created role as Creative Consultant, strengthening the organisation’s focus on contemporary, inclusive education for the next generation of hairdressers.

Shaw is the founder and director of multi award-winning salon MAMAWEST and a finalist for AHIA Victorian Hairdresser of the Year in both 2024 and 2025. An O&M ambassador, FAME Team alumni and highly regarded educator and platform artist, she brings 18 years of industry experience to the position.

Pivot Point ANZ CEO Jane Barrett said Shaw’s appointment reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to high-quality education. “Sheridan’s passion and commitment to education is undeniable. She is a true advocate for quality education, and she deeply understands how integral this is for supporting our next generation of hairdressers and building a strong and vibrant industry,” Barrett said. “I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome her to our team.”

For Shaw, the role represents a personal milestone. “This feels like a full circle moment for me,” she said. “Pivot Point shaped the way I understood haircutting from the very beginning of my career as I trained with their resources as an apprentice at TAFE in Melbourne. I still have my hard copy folder sitting in the top drawer of my desk! To now see my own apprentices learning through the same system, nearly two decades on just goes to show the education is still cutting edge (pun fully intended).”

Barrett also highlighted Shaw’s leadership in driving positive change. “Sheridan has continually been at the forefront of our industry’s evolution,” she said, noting Shaw’s early adoption of silent appointments and the inclusion of pronouns in booking software.

Shaw said her broader industry work has prepared her well for the role. “I am passionate about education for our industry,” she said. “I have had the opportunity, as a member of the AHC Education and Training Committee, and serving on the SaCSA Technical Committee, to gain a deep, national perspective on what our industry needs.”

Barrett added that Shaw’s experience comes at a pivotal time. “Sheridan’s expertise will be invaluable in ensuring that Pivot Point’s education resources continue to meet the needs of our apprentices, employers and schools, both today and in the future,” she said. “And with a new qualification imminent, I believe the timing couldn’t be more perfect.”
