Phorest has officially become a Certified B Corporation™, marking a significant milestone for the salon, spa and clinic software company and formalising its commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Founded in Dublin in 2003, Phorest has grown from its beginnings on the salon floor to a global technology business serving nearly 12,000 businesses and more than 160,000 beauty professionals. The certification recognises the company’s performance across governance, workers, community, environment and customers, following the rigorous B Impact Assessment conducted by B Lab™.
Phorest achieved an overall impact score of 89, with particular strengths identified across its workplace, community and environmental initiatives. Fifty per cent of its management team are women, while 28 per cent of employees were promoted internally over the past year.
Its community commitments include the Phorest Forest initiative, which saw 800 trees planted in 2024, alongside the purchase of 15 acres of forestry in County Longford, Ireland. In 2025, the company also made six-figure charitable donations to more than 20 organisations, while its team contributed 712 hours of paid volunteer work.
Perhaps most significantly, Phorest has embedded its social and environmental commitments into its legal governing documents through B Corp’s ‘Mission Lock’. The move is designed to ensure consideration of its people, communities and the planet remains part of the company’s decision-making, regardless of future ownership or leadership changes.
For Founder and CEO Ronan Perceval, the certification formalises a philosophy that has been central to Phorest since its beginnings.
“Intent is one thing, but formalising it is another,” says Ronan. “By embedding this commitment directly into our legal structure, we ensure that our dedication to our clients, our team, and our planet cannot be quietly set aside when things get difficult or short-term industry pressures mount.”
Rather than positioning B Corp certification as a competitive advantage, Phorest is using the milestone to encourage greater accountability across the wider hair, beauty and wellness industries.
“Becoming a B Corp does not make Phorest exceptional,” says Ronan. “Our genuine hope is that this level of accountability and long-term thinking becomes the norm – the standard we all hold ourselves to across the beauty, wellness, and tech sectors.”
The certification adds another dimension to Phorest’s long-standing philosophy of Seirbhís Go Hiontach, meaning ‘wonderful service’ in Irish, which continues to inform how the company works with its people, customers and communities.
With nearly 500 employees across Ireland, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Canada and the US, Phorest’s B Corp certification places its growth against a broader commitment to building a more responsible and sustainable business for the industry it serves.
