DID YOU KNOW? The L’Oréal Professionnel Style & Colour Trophy is the longest running live hair competition in the world. First launched in the UK in 1954 and focused only on colour, it has spread globally, from Canada to New Zealand, Taiwan to Argentina, and has been extended to styling since 2016 to reward the top experts in this field. The competition was first created to shine a light on the important work of hair colourists or technicians, who in the 1950’s were very much “behind the scenes”, and it has always stressed the importance of not only showing technical expertise in ensuring the hair is kept in great condition, but also the importance of creating an on-trend total look (with hair colour, cut & style, make-up and clothes complementing the model). In recent years the theme has been “Hair Inspired by Fashion” to encourage hairdressers to create looks their clients will want to visit their salons for. The L’Oréal Professionnel Style & Colour Trophy continues to inspire the hairdressing Industry and gives new salons and hair teams the opportunity to show their work.
