So how does it work? The secret in in the three-part system; consisting of the self regulating Heating Tool, Lightening Créme with Pro Heat technology and 10 micron Aluminum Foil. Used together, hair is quickly lightened (up to six levels) in a safe and controlled way (results seen here in this before and after).

Not dissimilar in appearance to the humble heat styler, the Instant Highlights Heating Tool glides over the foil packet, applying heat evenly to speed up the processing time. The spacer that sits between the plates combined with a controlled heat gauge regulates temperature every 0.2 seconds. Why? To maintain a safe temperature of 140 degrees at all times. Both functionalities work to guarantee hair will never come into direct contact with heat.

L’Oréal Professionnel recommend an application time of 10 minutes and heating time of no longer than 15 to 30 seconds (max), per foil. Development time up to 10 minutes, post use of the heating tool, is the rule. It is advised to start at the end of hair, moving up towards the root, using a back and forth motion. And of course, results are best served with an application of Smartbond Step 2 before a professional finish.
