What began in a Perth carpark a decade ago has grown into a national movement. Short Back & Sidewalks, the not-for-profit providing free haircuts to people experiencing homelessness and poverty, has announced a landmark partnership with KEVIN.MURPHY, who joins as the founding member of the newly formed Hair Alliance.
The alliance will unite leading hair industry brands to drive social impact across Australia. For founder Craig Hollywood, the collaboration is rooted in shared values. “A relationship with a hair industry leader will ensure we can grow our army of volunteers and also the positive connections we make with people experiencing homelessness and poverty around the country,” he said.
At the heart of the initiative is the simple but powerful act of a haircut. “I’ve seen how as stylists we have the ability to completely change the way someone feels about themselves, how we can restore their confidence and remind them that they matter,” said Kevin Murphy. “We’re incredibly proud to partner with Short Back & Sidewalks to support the emotional power of human connection through stylists to restore dignity and confidence.”
The Hair Alliance is calling on further industry leaders to join, amplifying hairdressing’s unique ability to transform not only appearances but lives.
