INTERVIEW: MAX MAY ON THE GHD MAX

Australia’s captain of long, luscious waves, ghd Max Ambassador, May May (see what they did there), took some to talk the time saving benefits of the brand’s latest innovation for superior heat styling. It’s good news for hair and hairdressers, as always with ghd.

TJ: Why is the ghd Max a welcome addition to your session kit – how does it assist for a more seamless product/finish?

MM: Time is my number one issue on set and the ghd max halves the time in the chair for me. I can get through hair so quickly with the larger plates. The second benefit I love is the versatility in styles. Whether I’m doing curls, waves or straighter styles I can create them all with the ghd max styler. Not having to carry as many tools is also a bonus!

TJ: How will the tool assist hairdressers day-to-day in-salon?

MM: Versatility in achievable looks along with styling in half the time (courtesy of the larger plates), particularly on long, thick hair!

TJ: What is your favourite feature of the tool?

MM: I’m really enjoying the larger more ‘shimmer romantic’ waves it creates having the larger plate. A lot of my clients also have hair extensions which with the optimum styling temperature of 185°C makes it safer for extensions and less damage on their natural hair.

TJ: Talk to us about some upcoming (wearable) hair trends and how the ghd Max will help to create these with ease, at home and in-salon?

MM: Soft romantic waves are always in – no matter the season or current trends – and ghd max is designed with that in mind. The larger plates (when used as a curler) naturally create a soft wave, making it easy for a woman to achieve a more wearable wave with ease.

GHD HAIR NEWS PRODUCT

I’m really loving using the ghd max styler as a curler. The edges of the plates slightly rotate and are bevelled making it easy to bend the tool away from the hair and face. The result is big, bouncy soft waves.

TJ: What are some unique techniques with the ghd Max?

MM: I’m really loving using the ghd max styler as a curler. The edges of the plates slightly rotate and are bevelled making it easy to bend the tool away from the hair and face. The result is big, bouncy soft waves.

TJ: In your opinion, why is ghd the superior heat styling brand?

MM: All ghd heat styling tools perform at the optimum styling temperature of 185°C, which is important to me as I know I am respecting the integrity of my client’s hair. ghd has been a brand that stylists have relied on for 20 years and they are constantly innovating with new technology and product that keeps the industry growing and evolving.

TJ: What was your first experience with ghd, and do you remember your first ghd tool?

MM: I absolutely do and I still have it. It was early 2004 When I bought my first ghd straightener. It was a really big deal. An investment in my kit and my career that I still remember to this day.
