INSIDE MENTOR WEEK

A daily insight into the people and products defining FAME Mentor Week, 2023.

It marks the beginning of each team’s journey around the world, and serves as an introduction to our wonderful sponsors, their ethos, people and products. FAME Mentor Week serves four days of bonding, expanding, laughing and crying as each member opens up about their past, present and future ideals. All concluded with the highlight for many – a creative editorial for THE JOURNAL magazine.

Here, we recap the week that was with FAME Team Managing Director/ TONI&GUY Director Jack Morton.

Sunday

Day one was all about bonding. The team took a deep dive into each other’s personal and professional journeys and established their objectives and intentions for the year.

Monday

Day two was held at Dyson HQ where we spent the morning immersing ourselves in the brand, it’s incredible history, values and ground-breaking technology. Dyson Global Styling Ambassador Pete Thompson shared his pearls of wisdom before taking the team through the unlimited potential of Dyson Airwrap tools.

Tuesday

The Tuesday session was led by myself and focused on the origin of trends and how to conceptualise in order to get the wheels turning for their AHFA Artistic Team collection.

We spent the afternoon with hair extension sponsor J’adore and their ambassador, slash queen of long hair transformations, Natalie Anne. The focus was on the creative use of hair extensions and how to create engaging social content.

Wednesday

Styling sponsor Davroe began the day with a talk from owner Mary Centofani, exploring the incredible story of the brand’s origins. Next up, Ambassador Madison Voloshin provided a full rundown on Davroe products, sharing his backstage tricks together with a demonstration of foundational runway hair.

Thursday

Every Mentor Week concludes the same – with a creative editorial for THE JOURNAL magazine. Photographed by TJM’s Founder & Director David Mannah and led by TJM’s Creative Director, Lauren King, the concept honoured the late Vivienne Westwood with a wild, punk-infused wardrobe and editorial to more extreme throwbacks to the sub-culture’s iconic movements in hair and makeup. Hair Director Richi Grisillo invited the team into foolproof editorial techniques and the power of product in (hair) design.
