Glamour, inspiration and creativity are just a few things Los Angeles is known for; that’s why Goldwell choose to bring the Color Zoom Global Event 2013 to L.A. From October 5-7, 3.000 hairdressers from all continents gathered for the Color Zoom Global Event and three days full of celebration, inspiration and education.
Lights! Camera! Action! Hollywood! – Saturday, October 5, 2013
The welcome evening at the Nokia Theatre treated guests to a true red carpet experience. The home of the Grammys, Emmys and the American Music Awards was the perfect location for networking with beautiful and creative people from all over the world. The Australian and New Zealand competitors nerves were starting to settle in, knowing they were only one night away from competing in the Global Color Zoom Event.
Live Competition and Celebration – Sunday, October 6, 2013
70 national finalists from 28 countries competed live and simultaneously in three categories: Partner, New Talent and Creative.
Of those, 21 demonstrated their skills in the Partner Category, including Australia’s own Daniel Lepore from Symetry Cutters in SA. This category is open for Goldwell Guest Artists.
23 creative stylists competed in the New Talent Category, including Australian Amanda Tua from Noddy’s on King NSW and New Zealander Jessie Bragg from Raw Blonde in NZ. These young, creative colorists with less than five years of professional experience demonstrated their amazing creativity and potential.
And finally, in the Creative Category, 26 hairdressers with five or more year’s professional hairdressing experience competed against one another, including Australian colorist from Lee Preston Hairdressing in WA, Liam Baxter and New Zealander and second time National Winner for New Zealand Fraser Foulagi from Ryder Salon.
After the Live Competition, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of the new 2014 Color Zoom Collection at the Look & Learn Seminar hosted by the creators themselves, the Global Color Zoom ’14 Creative Team.
The decision of the international judging panel was not an easy one. Made up of beauty experts from around the globe, the decision was made and announced on Sunday evening during the Color Zoom ’14 Inspirational Hair Fashion Catwalk Show:

Also at the Color Zoom ’14 Inspirational Hair Fashion Catwalk Show, the Goldwell Master Team put on an a state of the art haute couture interpretation of the Color Zoom ’14 Collection – Reallusion. Hair fashion, music and multi-media were combined in true Hollywood style. The evening wrapped up with the Color Zoom after Party, where 3.000 guests celebrated the new international winners at L.A. Live.
“It’s a wrap”! Farewell Party – Monday, October 7, 2013
All good things must come to an end, and the farewell party for Color Zoom 2013 did not disappoint. The Global Color Zoom Events concluded at the Club Mayan and the Belasco Theatres, where guests were farewelled in style through the eyes of the KMS Brand. The farewell party had it all; a hair show, sizzling entertainment of dancers and acrobatics and delectable canapés and drinks. Australia’s own Clive Allwright from Our Place Salon NSW and Barney Gleeson from Lee Preston Hairdressing WA showed off their styling skills live on stage for the KMS Hair Show at the farewell party.
