Now in its third year, Soft Centre brings the (immersive) party to Sydney’s South West.
Heralded as Sydney’s answer to Hobart’s Dark Mofo festival, Soft Centre is, well… anything but soft.
A one-day festival of dark abstraction, the event features an enthralling roster of live electronic sounds and experimental performance art, set against a spectral backdrop of space-spanning light installations and trippy new media pieces.
All this inside the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in Sydney’s South West.
Kicking off Saturday 14th September, this year’s instalment includes an epic line-up of both local and international creative acts, from AV and installation artists to a number of electro DJ’s and experimental music producers.
Headlining in 2019? Chinese club outfits 33EMYBW, and Gooooose, Indonesian happy-hardcore duo Gabber Modus Operandi and Belgium based trance artist Nkisiii, who’ll join a bill of Sydney’s up and coming musical talents in bringing the aural revelry.
Likewise, famed Japanese media artist Shohei Fujimoto will showcase three of his light-bending laser installations across the event floor, each work creatively curated to challenge viewers’ perceptions of space and time. Trippy indeed.
At just $95, this ticket’s a hot one. Get in quick.
