EDUCATION: BOX HILL INSTITUTE ANNOUNCE NEW INITIATIVES

With 2019 just around the corner, Box Hill Institute are firing on all cylinders with the announcement of two exciting new initiatives.

The first will see the education provider enter into a new affiliation with the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC).

The groundbreaking new initiative will count Box Hill as the first TAFE Institute to grant students graduating in Hairdressing, Barbering, Makeup and Beauty an internationally recognised qualification across 33 countries including Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK.

The announcement came from Head of Hair and Beauty Ruth Browne, who explained that Box Hill had become an ITEC centre and would as such be visited by an International ITEC examiner to assess candidates’ practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

“ITEC will ensure that applicants meet the international standards of registered countries,” she began. “Having an ITEC qualification is impressive on a CV and of course, opens opportunities for graduating students to work overseas.”

ITEC stands as the largest International exam board in the hair and beauty realm and as such their diplomas are widely considered to be the highest standing endorsement that a professional hairdresser or beauty therapist can attain.

The second initiative to be launched in February 2019, is Box Hill Institutes’ adoption of the world-renowned Pivot Point curriculum; a development that will play an integral role in the reinvention of the institute’s hairdressing education program.

As one of Australia’s premier experts in the Pivot Point training method and the General Manager of Pivot Point for 22 years, Ruth explains the development as an exciting move to provide hairdressing and barbering students the most industry-relevant training; “Salon employers are going to be thrilled with the level of skill and knowledge their apprentices will have as a result”.

This new program has also created a wealth of new part-time and casual teaching opportunities. Hairdressers, barbers and make-up artists holding the Certificate IV in Teaching (TAE40116) are invited to apply.

Those wishing to apply are encouraged to email Ruth Browne at ruth.browne@boxhill.edu.au for application and position details.
