DESIGN: MELBOURNE DESIGN WEEK CELEBRATES GREAT IDEAS

With just a few days left, you’d be silly to not check out any of the 160 state-wide events taking place in Victoria this week to acknowledge Melbourne’s status as a Global Design City.

With 30 exhibitions, open access to some of Melbourne’s leading showrooms, talks, workshops and panels, Melbourne Design Week aims to kick-start (and celebrate) great ideas, innovation, and creative thinking.

Covering areas as vast and overlapping as sustaining cities, design communication, urban futures and digital disruption, the initiative draws together art, craft, culture, architecture, science and technology.

Many of the daily exhibitions can be found at the National Gallery of Victoria, while tours run by Open House Melbourne will give visitors insight into local landmarks such as Hepburn Wind Farm, RMIT Nano Research Facility, The Dream Factory and the Victorian College of the Arts.

Melbourne Design Week officially runs until March 25.

With many of the events free to attend, check out https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/melbourne-design-week/ for further information.
