There’s nothing our industry loves more than soaking up education and inspiration to further hone their craft, and it seems as though in 2022 we are slowly but surely returning to a normal IRL format of education within the industry.

Box Hill Institute’s recently held masterclass, mentored by Dee Parker Attwood and Charlene Fernandez, saw a demonstration of four key hair looks from Brisbane’s fashion week runway, followed by a practical class where 37 students attempted to recreate one of the four looks presented.

Following this masterclass, Dee Parker and Charlene Fernandez chose eight students to participate in the hair show that would take place at the Box Hill Institute Showcase in Octobe. Attracting some of Melbourne’s best salon owners, stylists, apprentices and various industry stakeholders to gather for a night celebrating some of the project’s recent successes, there was a feeling of excitement in the air and a somewhat return to normalcy following a disrupted and fairly tumultuous few years.

In addition to the hair show that shone a spotlight on these talented students, the evening also featured a special hair show featuring Dee Parker Attwood + friend’s latest work.

Box Hill Institute’s partnership with Jobs Victoria aims to attract more individuals to the Hair Industry and support them through a certificate III in either Barbering (SHB30516) or certificate III in hairdressing (SHB30416).

Thanks to this partnership with Jobs Victoria, Box Hill Institute has created a highly engaging immersive training program exclusively for their Barbering and Hairdressing Students. This program has provided many ‘out of the ordinary curriculum’ learning opportunities for their students such as the one helmed by Dee Parker Attwood and Charlene Fernandez.
