Australian excellence continues to command attention on the world stage, with Melbourne creative force Bernadette Beswick named British Hairdressing Awards (BHA) International Collection of the Year 2025 for her striking and conceptual Luminary collection.
The win cements Beswick as one of the country’s most accomplished and globally recognised creatives, further elevating Australia’s position as a leader in modern hair craftsmanship.
A study of precision, form and futurism, Luminary explores light as both a tangible element and a symbolic idea. Working with geometric shapes, texture play and advanced cutting technique, Beswick builds a narrative inspired by natural light patterns, the spectrum, and the reflective qualities found in fur, feathers and liquid surfaces. The resulting visual language feels sculptural and experimental- yet undeniably wearable.
“I am beyond words with appreciation of receiving this international award! Luminary is shining bright worldwide and I am so proud,” she says. “This win will help me influence the lives of my students even more. We can never forget that hairdressers can truly change lives.”

The collection was brought to life alongside a high-calibre creative team, including ELEVEN Australia Global Brand Artist Rachel Vitullo on colour, photographer Andrew O’Toole, make-up artist Kylie O’Toole and stylist Catherine V- together shaping a polished, editorial interpretation of Beswick’s concept.
This year’s BHA International category also highlighted the strength of Australian hairdressing more broadly, with four of the remaining five finalists also representing Australia- a clear signal of the nation’s growing influence in global hair fashion.
A defining moment for Beswick, and another major milestone for Australian artistry.
Congratulations, Bernadette!
