Shu Uemura Art of Hair has recently revealed its highly anticipated Limited Edition Art Series 2.0 collaboration with an exclusive art exhibition at China Heights Gallery, Surry Hills. The evening brought to life Shu Uemura’s inspired partnership with three exceptional Australian artists – accessories designer Poppy Lissiman, artist Anya Brock, and painter/illustrator Billie Justice Thomson – who lent their unique designs to a limited-edition production of Shu Uemura’s adored Conditioners.

Shu Uemura’s dedication to cultivating creative expression was showcased with the artists presenting their collaborative bottles for the first time alongside a carefully curated selection of their broader bodies of work, including some original pieces created exclusively for the brand, at the one-night-only exhibition.

Poppy Lissiman designed an exclusive energetic print, featuring a glittering snake, her signature evil eye iconography and ‘Memphis movement’ mismatched shapes in clashing hues. Anya Brock took inspiration from 1950s abstract expressionists to create her vivid, portrait-inspired design, portraying a pair of flamingos against a turquoise background. Billie Justice Thomson’s delightfully simplistic, custom-designed artwork features tessellating comb-like and cubist shapes defined by heavy black lines in colour-blocked tones.

Original artworks from Thomson displayed in the exhibition were kindly loaned by Modern Times. Located in the creative hub of Fitzroy Melbourne, Modern Times is a design destination known for showcasing and nurturing the best of emerging Australia talent through its popular exhibition program.

Bright young things including beauty fanatics and culture scouts sipped green tea ginger martinis and Japanese beer and snacked on brown rice sushi as they browsed the vibrant and inspiring artworks. All guests took home a set of the three collaborative bottles with many keen to keep them as collector’s items.

Now in it’s second year, the Shu Uemura Limited Edition Art Series 2.0 collaboration collection (250ml, RRP $58) will be available exclusively in Shu Uemura Art of Hair consultant salons nationwide from August.
