Aveda has expanded its skin care portfolio with the launch of Advanced Botanical Kinetics™, a collection designed to address visible collagen loss, hydration depletion and dullness through a combination of plant science and bioengineering.
At the core of the range is Phytotech Vegan Collagen, a proprietary ingredient developed using vertically farmed plant leaves grown in Tarragona Province, Spain. The plants are cultivated using a resource-efficient system that reduces land use and water consumption. Through advanced phytotechnology, the leaves are given a blueprint for Type 1 collagen bioidentical to a fragment of human skin collagen. Once absorbed, the plants generate collagen fragments within their own tissue, which are then extracted for use in the brand’s leave-on products. According to Aveda, these fragments help plump skin with hydration while aligning with its vegan ethos. Remaining plant material is repurposed into compost.
Supporting this is a Vegan Peptide Complex featured in the serum and moisturisers, formulated to help diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles associated with collagen decline, while promoting firmer, smoother-looking skin.
The third pillar Kinetic Energy Infusion technology, focuses on cellular energy. The blend includes an energising ferment derived from sugarcane starter, fermented for more than 16 hours, alongside niacinamide and caffeine. Together, these ingredients aim to support oxygen uptake, moisture retention and overall skin radiance.
“When we embarked on this project, we knew we weren’t here to create just another natural, vegan skincare collection- that was never going to be the story,” said Janet Pardo, Senior Vice President of Product Development for The Estée Lauder Companies. “We returned to Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher’s visionary concept of exploring the physics of vital kinetic energy in skin, and then layered it with modern science.”
The Advanced Botanical Kinetics™ collection includes a cleanser, essence lotion, serum and two moisturisers, and is 96%+ naturally derived, vegan, and tested for sensitive skin.
