Forget regular runway hair.
Hair Director Richard Kavanagh for Redken’s larger-than-life
collaboration with Iordanes Spyridon Gogos for the second consecutive year took creativity to the next level and hair to new heights.
From trojan horse wigs, palm tree ponytails and even a few Real Housewives thrown in the
mix, here we take you inside the colourful Redken x Iordanes Spyridon Gogos collaboration.
No stranger to pushing the realms of possibility (and gravity) when it comes to runway hair,
Richard Kavanagh jumped at the chance to once again take the reigns for Redken in terms of
hair direction for the eagerly anticipated Iordanes Spyridon Gogos show as part of
Australian Fashion Week 2024.
With looks presented – including wigs moulded to resemble trojan horses and ponytail palm
trees adorning many of the models – structurally breathtaking, the Redken products on hand
were critical in terms of ensuring a flawless finished product.
“We really wanted to bring (designer) Jordan Gogos’s creative vision and inspiration to life through the hair by elevating it with even more fun, more fantasy and more chaos.”
Richard Kavanagh, Redken Hair Director.
“We’ve got palm trees out of the hair,” describes Richard. “We’ve got bowl cuts and jellyfish. We’ve got hair cubes floating with negative space. We’ve even got Terry the art collector who has to walk down the runway with a 3 foot mohawk on his head, so in order to create hair shapes like this, we needed a really strong hold hairspray so my hero product has been our Max Hold Hairspray 32 factor”
In short? The collaboration was a melting pot of colour and creativity, brought to life by a brilliantly bold cast of characters. Here we take you inside the Redken x Iordanes Spyridon Gogos collaboration.
