AFW 26: DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS

Day two of Australian Fashion Week continued the focus on texture and restraint, with hair direction moving between sun-worn ease, controlled imperfection and refined polish.

COMMAS with Shark Beauty’s Madison Voloshin leaned into ocean-fresh natural texture, while Alix Higgins with KEVIN.MURPHY’s Daniel Jianing balanced ceremony and romance through soft irregularity and undone form. O&M’s John Pulitano and Sheridan Rose Shaw each explored their own take on restraint – from natural, understated luxury through to a sharper “quiet edge” – while Mary Alamine brought a salt-kissed softness to AJE that felt both raw and elevated. At Hansen and Gretel, Redken’s Di Gorgievski and Shark Beauty’s Madison Voloshin delivered unadulterated beach hair with an easy, lived-in finish.

COMMAS X SHARK BEAUTY

Hair direction from Shark Beauty’s Madison Voloshin was inspired by the effortless elegance of hair fresh from the ocean: sun-dried, natural and quintessentially Australian.

“Hair for COMMAS was inspired by that effortless moment after stepping out of the ocean,” explains Madison.

“The hair feels sun-dried, natural, and quietly elevated.”

ALIX HIGGINS X KEVIN.MURPHY

Hair Director Daniel Jianing blended ceremony, romance and beautifully controlled imperfection.

Soft texture, subtle irregularity and instinctive movement felt intentionally undone.

HANSEN AND GRETEL

Unadulturated beach chic hit the runway at Hansen and Gretel, with Hair Direction from Di Gorgievski (Redken) and Madison Voloshin (Shark Beauty).

“The inspiration for my look today was a mermaid siren – not too sultry, but beautiful soft texture – more of an angelic look,” explains Madison of his look.

Continues Diane, ““The show is called Tide, and the beachy hair direction really reflects that. It’s really reflective of that Australian culture, beach life – and then going out with salty hair after.”

COURTNEY ZHENG X O&M

Hair Direction from Sheridan Rose Shaw leaned into a perfectly imperfect ‘quiet edge’, bringing to life the quintessential Berlin club kid straight off the dancefloor.

“’We are working with a ‘quiet edge’ hair look,” says Sheridan. “It’s as if our model has literally walked out of a Berlin nightclub, and they are exactly as they are.”
