AFW 25: DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS

Please, may we have a moment for quiet luxury – making quite the statement on the runways at AFW25.

Whether it was the ethereal pony’s at Lee Mathews, moments of whimsy and windswept wonder at Beare Park or the sleek and chic ponytails at Farage, here’s every major moment you missed from back and front stage at AFW’s most anticipated shows on Day 2.

KEVIN.MURPHY X LEE MATHEWS

Under the Hair Direction of Kevin Murphy (for KEVIN.MURPHY) the hair at Lee Mathews was a case study in whimsical elegance – low pony’s and natural texture aplenty.

“Lee’s brief was all about capturing a sense of effortless, understated beauty – a reflection of
the natural world and the strength in simplicity. “That inspired us to create hair that feels
organic, lived-in, and true to each model’s natural texture.”

ELEVEN AUSTRALIA X JOSEPH AND JAMES

Hair Direction from ELEVEN Australia’s Jaimme Lee looked to hero the natural textures and aesthetics of the men marching for Joseph and James – with the help of ELEVEN Australia’s heavy hitters!

“The vision is all about being done, but undone,” explains Hair Director Jaimme-Lee. “One of our key products that we’re using today from ELEVEN Australia is the Sea Salt Texture Spray, and we’re finishing off with our brand new product which is the Smooth Me Flyaway Balm.”

REDKEN X BEARE PARK

Romance was present on the runway through Diane Gorgievski’s hair direction for Redken, with the whimsical hair serving as the ultimate partner to Beare Park’s collection.

Says Di of the hair direction, “The look for Beare Park was all about whimsical, classic beautiful women who have been caught in a windstorm. We have such great framing of the face and some really classic braids for the girls keeping it really clean.”

O&M X THE FRONTIER

With seven looks crafted for the brands showing as part of The Frontier show, Hair Director John Pulitano for O&M ensured each label had their own signature look – no easy feat!

“I’m so excited to direct The Frontier show with O&M,” says Pulitano. “We’re presenting seven different up-and- coming designers, so we’ve created a signature look tailored to each brand. We had a beautiful mix of editorial looks and understated hair.” “For Amy Lawrence, we created a tight, locked knot bun— very editorial, very high fashion. For Courtney Zheng, it was a natural yet gritty style with enhanced texture. For ESSE, we chose dead-straight hair, reflecting the brand’s refined minimalism.” “MATIN’s look was an effortlessly undone low ponytail, laid-back yet luxurious, allowing the collection to shine. For Paris Georgia, we styled a sleek, miniature low bun with minimal shine. Common Hours had two contrasting looks: one, a scraped-back sleek finish, and the other, a voluminous 70s-inspired textured blowout. For Wynn Hamlyn, we went with a strong side part paired with amplified natural texture.”

>RASILK X NAGNATA

Movement and body with flexible styling was the name of the game for Chris Hunter’s hair direction for Kerasilk. Think Bondi to Byron cool girl chic – the perfect addition to Nagnata’s collection.

Says Kerasilk Ambassador Chris Hunter, “We wanted to create hair that was reminiscent of Nagnata’s Studio-to-streen philosophy. Texture with an effortless vibe, that Byron to Bondi cool girl hair.”
