AFW 24: DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS

Be it the conceptual ceremonial hairstyles worn by Japanese women in the Heian period, gritty galactic lilacs at Anna Quan or bondage-tape wrapped updo’s for Nicol & Ford, there was no shortage of standout hair and beauty moments from AFW Day 3.

DAVROE X THIRD FORM

Davroe Hair Director Madison Voloshin’s hair direction for the Third Form show? Runway to real life looks with an ultra high-end, luxurious finish.

One of our looks for the show was a gorgeous, bouncy blowdry,” starts Madison. “Key products for achieving this runway to real life look? First we use Davroe’s BVT Foam – aka the mother of all volume products – followed by spraying the hair with Thermaprotect to both protect the whilst also providing a little textured hold.”

WELLA X ANNA QUAN

For Anna Quan’s beautifully feminine collection, Wella Professionals Creative Director Renya Xydis created gorgeous, gritty texture with a hint of galactic glam, wearable from dusk until dawn.

Says Renya, “Gritty galactic is all about being strong and soft, yet fierce. Wella Professionals’ EIMI range was layered to create texture and grit, whilst still providing shine and movement.”

REDKEN X NICOL & FORD

In true Richard Kavanagh style, looks crafted for Nicol & Ford transcended mere hair and entered the world of sculptured art. Think bondage tape wrapped plaits, gravity defying updos and a healthy dose of artistic attitude.

“This show is really dear to my heart because it’s really embracing a narrative about freedom and power and strength of identity,” says Richard. “We’ve really referenced the idea of emerging from the fire with strength and power and we’re working with motifs like snatched ponytails.”

O&M X ALIX HIGGINS

O&M Hair Director Daniel Jianing Liu transported us back in time for Alix Higgins, with grungy looks infused with 1940’s glamour.

“The hero product for the show was the O&M Atonic Thickening Spritz, we sprayed a lot of Atonic so the hair looks wet, thick and holds the silhouette of the shape of the head,” says Daniel Jianing Liu.

REDKEN X ROMANCE WAS BORN

Redken Hair Director Di Gorgievski transported us to another world with five looks ranging from angelic to sleek sci fi for Romance was Born.

REVLON X KARLA ŠPETIĆ

For Karla Špetić‘s Resort ‘25 collection ‘Ikgai’, Revlon Professionals Hair Director Uros Mikic brought this motif to life via hair inspired by a modern approach to the conceptual ceremonial hairstyles worn by Japanese women in the Heian period.
