MBFWA SPOTLIGHT: WELLA PROFESSIONALS FOR ALICE MCCALL

The majority of the work is all about the parting in the middle, then clipping and twisting the Lady Jane clip in. Prior to this the hair has been prepped with Wella Professional EIMI Perfect Me Hair Smoothing Lotion and another hero is EIMI Ocean Spritz which we’re applying around the back of the hair to give texture as they walk.

She’s Sydney’s ultimate good time designer. Alice McCall’s fearless fervour for life and fashion continued to shine throughout last night’s MBFWA Resort 19 showcase – a presentation of pastel metallics and that soft, feminine touch we know and love of the brand – fierce meets beautifully fragile. Vintage meets contemporary vixen. It was all there and hair direction rose to the occasion.

Directed by Wella Professionals Creative Director Aus/NZ, Renya Xydis, the brand delivered its usual team of expert session stylists and a malleable product set to work with the combined vision of Alice and Renya.

“We’re combining this vintage 40s vibe with the fierceness of the Alice McCall chick. She’s the ultimate cool girl,” started Renya.

“The fierceness is in the tight section up here, this tight twisted element. Comparatively, we’re letting the back of the hair fall naturally.”

The Forties aspect presented in the form of classic, old-school Lady Jane clips. As always with fashion, it’s a cycle of come backs, and the classic toothed comb-clip is up next.

“The majority of the work is all about the parting in the middle, then clipping and twisting the Lady Jane clip in. Prior to this the hair has been prepped with Wella Professionals EIMI Perfect Me Hair Smoothing Lotion and another hero is EIMI Ocean Spritz which we’re applying around the back of the hair to give texture as they walk,” says Renya.

“It’s a natural shine factor here. A soft finish achieved with Wella Professionals EIMI Stay Styled Finishing Spray.”

And are we still obsessed with the individual?

“Yes! It’s something that’s really come from New York. A couple of the girls have undercuts, we’ve got afros unique heights, textures and so on, but with the rare exception, we’re still working to create a uniform style across all of the girls.”

Party time.
