MBFWA SPOTLIGHT: ELEVEN FOR BLAIR ARCHIBALD

Building on the natural fall and shape of the model’s hair and create to editorial look was our main focus – but we wanted it to be readable outside the runway show. I wanted to create an overall look of soft wavy texture with a dewy finish, to give a beautiful healthy texture between both male and female models. All in all we wanted to keep true to both the ELEVEN Australia and Blair Archibald brand.

Making their Fashion Week debut this year, Melbourne outfit Blair Archibald brought chic wearability to the MBFWA arena.

The look for Blair Archibald built on the natural fall of hair, enhancing the texture of both male and female models’ tresses to create a wet, matted finish.

“Blair and I have worked together for about six years,” said Hair Director Melvin Royce-Lance, “This show represents six years of buildup! Blair wanted something a bit more natural; working with the natural shape and texture of each model’s hair.”

To achieve the look, stylists prepped hair with Eleven’s coveted Miracle Hair Treatment (which also acts as a heat protectant, hydrator and strengthener) to give the hair a natural gloss. Eleven’s Sea Salt Texture Spray was next spritzed through for texture, and to assist with building the wave formation.

“After applying the hero products, we next diffuse dried hair and brought it forward toward the front of the face. Once hair was brought forward, we created a finger wave effect around the forehead, before tucking remaining hair behind the ears. The rest of the hair was left free flowing.”

To finish, a final layer of Sea Salt Texture Spray was sprayed through to create the wet finish. “There’s a slick effect around the top, close to the face, though the rest is free-flowing.”

Get the Look:

For the Men:

Step One: Prep damp hair with Miracle Hair Treatment.

Step. Two: Spray a generous amount of Sea Salt Texture Spray on to the hair.

Step Three: Scrunch the Sea Salt Texture Spray through the hair to encourage natural texture – making sure the hair is pushed forward to create a face frame and an irregular parting.

Step Four: Using a diffuser, diffuse dry the hair until bone dry.

Step Five: Once the shape is created, spray another layer of Sea Salt Texture Spray to create a wet look finish.

For the Women:

Step One: Prep damp hair with Miracle Hair Treatment.

Step Two: Spray a generous amount of Sea Salt Texture Spray on to the hair.

Step Three: Once the hair is diffused, create a horizontal section starting from eye level.

Step Four: Using a 1 1/2 inch curling iron, take two inch sections and create a soft bend by turning the iron completely half way then release the clamp.

Step Five: Create the same motion but in the opposite direction. Continue this formation until the entire head is complete.

Step Six: Using the Orange Carbon Fibre Comb rake the waves out to create separation.

Step Seven: Shake the waves out with hands to create an undone tousled look.

Step Eight: Create an irregular parting just off the centre of the head and tuck hair behind ears.

Step Nine: Finish off with Smooth & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum throughout the mid lengths and ends to create a dewy look then add another layer of Sea Salt Texture Spray to create a wet look finish.
