Hair awards season is upon us. The Australian Hair Fashion Awards are less than a week away. The Hair Expo Collections will be announced by the time you finish this paragraph. To say the team of Anniss + Barton have been busy would be an understatement.

So who exactly are the guys behind the camera?

Kurt Anniss and Nathan Barton have been meshing their unique styles for over 10 years. Taking Kurt’s shoot-from-the-hip, amorphously artistic approach and combining it with Nathan’s keen eye for detail and style, it’s no wonder this Melbourne based duo is in high demand—from the highly demanding.

“We shoot for a lot of big personalities within the dynamic hair industry,” Nathan, the producer/director of Anniss + Barton explains. “Having the honour of working with some of Australia’s leading hair stylists like Kobi Bokshish, Uros Mikic, Joe Habbaki and Stevie English has only pushed us to reach new creative limits.”

 And when it comes to the Australian hair photography arena, it seems creativity has no limit.

“We don’t think of our shoots as working for a client,” Kurt, Anniss + Barton’s photographer, says, “We collaborate with our clients.”

Known—and respected—for infusing their innovative style into their client’s ideas, this duo thrives on working side-by-side with clients to develop abstract thoughts into beautiful pieces of art, something that is not all that different from the industry, this team has not only found their footing, but are excelling in.

Just the past several months have seen Anniss + Barton shooting collections for the Australian Hairdresser of the Year and more recently their clients becoming finalists in the Victorian Hairdresser of the Year and Men’s Hairdresser of the Year.

“We love the creativity of the hair industry,” Kurt says. Adds Nathan, “No two shoots are ever the same, especially where the only boundaries are defined by depth of your imagination.”

And they should know. With their signature quirky, sexy, and just a little risqué style sought after by luxury brands such as L’Oreal Professional, Matrix, Tony & Guy and Remington, there is no doubt Anniss + Barton are at the top of their game.
