Hair Direction by RICHARD KAVANAGH, Redken HAIR DIRECTOR

Backstage at the General Pants show, Redken Hair Director Richard Kavanagh created three urban, street style hair looks to complement the casual but cool new season Spring Summer collection; The Low Slung Ponytail, The Androgynous Top Knot and The Betty Hoop.

THE LOOK #1: LOW SLUNG PONYTAIL
“This is one of the three looks we’ve created for the show. The style is a textured low slung ponytail,” describes Richard Kavanagh, Redken Hair Director. “This has a very editorial look and feel. It’s romantic and sexy and cool”.

THE LOOK #2: THE ANDROGYNOUS TOPKNOT
“This is a manga inspired topknot that looks equally cool on a boy as it does on a girl,” explains Redken Hair Director Richard Kavanagh about one of the three hair looks he created for the General Pants MBFFS show. The androgynous topknot plays with contrasting forms and textures, by keeping the knot tight and compact on the top of the head while the lengths flows freely. The two combined create an edgy hair look with urban tribal accents.

THE LOOK #3: THE BETTY HOOP
“We wanted to find a new way to wear a bandana or do-rag and took inspiration for the shape from the forties; and texture and attitude from urban hoodlums’ style of east LA,” comments Redken Hair Director Richard Kavanagh about his final street style look for the show.
